What We Are Looking For:
We are looking for a Sr. Manager, Software Engineering to help us expedite the build out of our Market Data systems to establish a unified market data product that will empower our customers internal and external to rely on incident free trading supported by a world class market data ecosystem. This team will be continuing the digital transformation in-flight and enrich it by building out a modern tech stack for the future of TradeStation's market data products across equities, futures, options, and cryptocurrency markets.
As Sr. Manager, Software Engineering, you will work with the team and group Architects to drive technical innovation and will optimize the team's performance in a very dynamic business and technical environment. You will be providing leadership for Technical Leads and the software development teams. You will participate in technology management planning sessions, coordinate the execution and alignment with the enterprise architecture vision, and provide oversight of key initiatives and communicate with executive leadership. The successful candidate will also develop a strong understanding of stakeholders to drive development decisions and execute tactical plans and product roadmaps, act as product evangelist, develop and manage relationships with executives, stakeholders, and peers, serve as the functional contact point, and oversee the cost and value of engineering initiatives. This role offers a unique opportunity to lead a talented group of highly dedicated individuals. An appreciation for quality and attention to detail is important for success when building these products while emphasizing successful execution through hands-on follow-up and guidance.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Serve as an inspirational and outcome-driven leader -- execution and follow-up is everything
- Foster a customer-centric culture to push teams to deliver the best possible experience for customers
- Participate in business planning and communicate technical knowledge of vision for both current and future technology products
- Work closely with product owners to accurately prioritize work and collaborate and execute on product roadmaps
- Manage hybrid infrastructure strategy, optimizing workload placement across AWS cloud and on-premise data centers for performance and cost efficiency
- Enable direct reports to serve as lead developers; maintain a view of the big picture and focus on delivery and commitments
- Ensure all technology is following a consistent, repeatable, and successful set of best practices
- Clear roadblocks for teams to ensure delivery focus
- Collaborate with PM, business, and executives to ensure clear expectations and understanding of timelines, progress status, intended functionality, exceptions, etc.
- Champion psychological safety within the team environment, modeling it and insisting on it as a core value
- Select, assess, develop, mentor, manage and retain top technical talent
- Effectively manage people, including planning, assigning, and directing work; evaluating performance, addressing complaints, and resolving problems
- Ensure knowledge sharing among the team to avoid information silos and address key-staff issues
- Continuously refine development process to improve overall performance, and reduce friction to delivery
- Maintain Agile practices and track team performance based on outcomes

- Strong knowledge of low-latency systems, networking technologies, modern architecture, AWS, Kubernetes, and open-source technologies (Redis/Kafka)
- Solid organization and prioritization skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with the ability to pivot and adapt as needed
- Strong understanding of software design principles and patterns
- Expertise and demonstrated experience in systems design, development, implementation, and deployment processes
- Demonstrated ability to make decisions regarding necessary team size and composition
- Knowledge and proficiency in modern high performance programming languages (Galang, Rust, Zig) with understanding of C++ for maintaining existing systems
- Understanding of low-latency systems and close-to-the-hardware engineering and optimization techniques is a must
- Strong pattern recognition abilities to identify abstractions and processes that drive team success
- Experience managing hybrid cloud/on-premise architectures with container orchestration
- Demonstrated experience making decisions regarding team composition, resource allocation, and technical direction
- Strong understanding of modern software development lifecycles
- Experience in the brokerage or financial services industry is preferred, especially in the market data space preferred
- Knowledge of market data protocols (FIX, FAST, proprietary exchange formats) and modern streaming protocols (gRPC, WebSockets) for feed handlers preferred
- Experience with ultra-low latency systems and performance tuning at microsecond levels preferred
- Experience designing hybrid cloud strategies that balance performance, cost, and compliance requirements preferred
- Knowledge of AWS services relevant to high-performance data streaming (Kinesis, MSK, Direct Connect, etc.) preferred
- Experience with container orchestration platforms (Kubernetes, EKS) for deploying and scaling distributed systems preferred
- Understanding of regulatory requirements for market data distribution and reporting preferred
- Experience with infrastructure as code and automating deployments across hybrid environments preferred
- Familiarity with colocation facilities and cross-connect management for exchange connectivity preferred
Minimum Qualifications:
- BS in Computer Science or related technical discipline is required or equivalent work experience
- 5+ years of relevant team management and leadership experience in high-performance, business-critical environments

- Pay Range (US) $173-217K (Countries outside of the US have differing ranges in accordance with local labor markets)
