POSITION SUMMARY:
The System Engineer is responsible for infrastructure and systems both within the datacenter and in the cloud.  This person is responsible for implementing technical solutions to solve business requirements and maintains high availability of existing systems and infrastructure. The System Engineer will also be responsible for executing projects and coordinating with various teams for design and implementation.  The System Engineer also partners with various departments to help understand, prioritize and define the business needs, while working as a member of an Agile development team. 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Identifying, analyzing, and resolving infrastructure vulnerabilities and application deployment issues
  • Produce systems that are scalable, automated, and well-documented, and train others to take on operations
  • Regularly reviewing existing systems and making recommendations for improvements
  • Install, configure, test and maintain operating systems, application software and system management tools
  • Oversee the constant availability of technical resources
  • Ensures the highest level of systems and infrastructure availability
  • Plans and implements system automation as required for better efficiency
  • Provide knowledge transfer and assistance to team members as needed
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
  • Strong analytical, technical, oral, and written communication skills
  • Strong experience with Windows systems such as Active Directory, DFS, clustering, etc.
  • Experience with Linux systems
  • Experience in scripting and automating tasks (Powershell, Python, etc)
  • Exceptional organizational and time-management skills and the ability to prioritize
  • Certification as an AWS Solutions Architect, Cloud Security Certification, and/or OpenStack Administrator Certification a plus. (Other cloud-related certification also a plus)
  • Ability to take projects from conception to completion
  • Team player who can work flexible hours
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
  • Applicants must be familiar with trading/securities industry concepts, practices, and procedures. A wide degree of technical proficiency, creativity, and latitude is expected
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 5+ years as an experience system engineer working with large enterprise systems and cloud environments
  • Ability to lead large projects end to end, including writing technical requirements and deployments
