Assistant Controller
Plantation, FL
Working on the Finance team, the Assistant Controller will be responsible for several aspects of the monthly financial closing process including the preparation and review of journal entries and account reconciliations. The individual will be exposed to industry-specific rules and regulations and will assist the TSS Controllers and FINOP in ensuring compliance with various daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly filing requirements.
  • Prepare and review daily cash reconciliations
  • Prepare and review journal entries and reconciliations for monthly financial close
  • Analyze and evaluate financial data and prepare statements, supporting schedules and/or reports for review by management
  • Assist in the research and resolution of any issues involving accounts, records and reports generated within the department
  • Assist in the preparation of key regulatory filings including the annual financial statements
  • Provide assistance with gathering data and information requests in connection with external audits
  • Perform “ad-hoc” special projects for management as required
  • Recommend and implement process improvements where appropriate

  • Detail oriented with strong analytical and organization skills
  • Solid comprehension of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) is required while IFRS experience is preferred
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Excel, Word and other Microsoft office applications
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics 365 or similar systems, at a minimum
  • Highly motivated, a self-starter and a team player willing to take on responsibilities
  • Ability to effectively handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously in a deadline driven environment
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work and effectively communicate with all levels of management

  • BA/BS in Accounting
  • 5-7 years of accounting experience
  • Previous experience with financial services firm, especially broker-dealer, preferred
  • Certified Public Accountant preferred
  • Must have experience both preparing and reviewing monthly closing journal entries
