They're responsible for developing plans, delegating tasks, and overseeing progress toward predetermined benchmarks. This job requires strong leadership skills, as well as extensive engineering knowledge and experience.

A typical day in the life of an engineering manager might include:
• Hiring, training, or offering guidance to engineers on the team
• Creating project schedules and assigning specific jobs
• Evaluating the progress of engineering projects and determining whether the finished products measure up to specifications
• Developing and implementing processes and procedures for frequent engineering activities.
