We are seeking talented team members skilled in user interface (UI) and user experience (UX) design to contribute to our award-winning Windows, Android, iOS, and browser-based trading platforms and customer on-boarding and self-service tools. The UI/UX Designer is responsible for the UI/UX design of application development projects.  Best practices and design methods will be utilized to ensure the success of the projects.
This position will work across a broad range of UI/UX related disciplines from UI prototyping and interactive design, to usability testing and information architecture. The team member will be expected to apply intuitive design methodologies to wire framing, graphics development, skinning, and layout structuring. Flexibility, adaptability and the ability to learn quickly in various technical and creative environments, while delivering quality work by tight deadlines, are key attributes of this individual.
  • Effectively communicate design recommendations using wireframes, flowcharts, high-fidelity design comps, interactive prototypes and the occasional cocktail napkin
  • Create production-ready assets (icons, applications themes, etc.) using, for example, Photoshop, Illustrator, Sketch and XAML tools for Visual Studio
  • Based on input from key stakeholders, deliver UI/UX specifications that incorporate elements of consistency and adhere to our brand standard across the desktop platform, the Android and iOS mobile applications, the browser-based application, and customer on-boarding and self-service tools
  • Deliver simple design solutions to seemingly complex functional challenges
  • Work closely with business and technical stakeholders to understand complex functional requirements and transform them into intuitive design recommendations
  • Independently manage multiple, concurrent projects in a fast-paced development environment, proactively ensuring that appropriate UI/UX considerations are made throughout the SDLC
  • Work with business and technical stakeholders to build consensus behind the best practical – but not necessarily the best possible – design solutions; produce final design specs that balance development deadlines and implementation costs against key design considerations
  • Organize and facilitate small-scale usability tests
  • Work with Engineering and QA and shepherd designs through implementation and testing
  • Demonstrates creative, technical and analytical skills
  • Passionate about user experience and human centered design
  • Possesses a strong understanding of desktop, Android and iOS mobile, and browser-based applications and/or trading applications
  • Tech-savvy with a burning curiosity for cutting edge ways to improve the UI
  • Effectively develops in a clean, well structured, easily maintainable format
  • Utilizes storyboarding and graphic pre-designs where appropriate
  • Demonstrates ability to communicate effectively in both technical and business environments
  • Operates effectively both as a member of the agile development team and as an individual for quick turnaround of enhancements and fixes
  • Creates polished, professional designs that anticipate and accommodate the needs of users
  • Capable of consistently delivering high-quality content on time
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:                                                                                                    
  • Minimum 4-year degree (B.S. or B.A.), ideally in a related field (design, HCI, human factors, computer science, technical writing, psychology, etc.)
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience UX/UI design of complex software interface solutions for desktop, mobile, and/or browser-based software
  • Expert in graphics creation with Adobe Creative Cloud
  • Prototyping experience strongly preferred with rapid prototyping tools for mobile applications
  • Proven ability to create polished, professional designs that anticipate and accommodate the needs of users
  • Solid understanding of up-to-date GUI navigation principles for maximizing usability
  • Desire and willingness to work in a collaborative, innovative, flexible and team-oriented environment
  • Experience working with active traders, investors, or FinTech is a strong plus
  • Expertise with professional trading software or experience with financial services workflows a strong plus
